Fusing Genres with Passion
Joe is a one-man rock band based in Salford, England. He draws on a wide range of influences like progressive rock, hard rock, and folk, and his skill at guitar, bass, drums, and vocals allow for each part to shine in their own way. Joe makes an effort to toy with the listener’s expectations by changing rhythm, tempo, key, and dynamic when it is least expected, all underneath lyrics covering both societal and personal troubles that drip in a disdain for the status quo.
Where Did This Begin?
The Joe Kastane project was officially born at the start of 2026, but its roots go far, far deeper than that. I grew up listening to my mum's music that ranged from 80s Iron Maiden to noughties girl pop artists like P!nk, then I when I reached my teens I started to expand my horizons to the extremes of heavy metal and progressive music. Steve Harris' work inspired me to pick up my first bass guitar in the summer of 2020 and I've played and written music almost every week since then."
Where Is This Going?
"After heading off to University in Manchester I decided to nail down my sound. I took inspiration from progressive rock (especially the post-psychedelic 1970s strain), modern hard and alternative rock, and folk music from across Britain as the three core pillars of my sound. However, I always try to push boundaries so expect smaller influences from heavy metal's riffing, math rock's complexity, EDM's beats, and more."
